COSMIC T-SHIRT DESIGN

COSMIC is a Rube Goldberg Machine competition where teams of students are given a few hours to create a structure that successfully completes the objective. They are only allowed to use the materials provided, such as popsicle sticks, balloons, straws, and tape.

I had the privilege of designing their t-shirt two years in a row and was able to go out of my comfort zone and make an orange shirt work. I integrated the idea of the competition as well as the objectives for the respective years in the designs.

In 2017, they were looking for something that encompassed their purpose, so I integrated different elements such as a magnet, gear, a marble falling, and a lightbulb to symbolize innovation. In 2018, they were looking for a shirt that integrated their theme for the year, which was bowling. I made the “O” into a bowling ball, added bowling pins, and modified other letters to display the symbols for strike and spare.
